Christmas Lights Installation Training

Run a Real Christmas Light Business. Stop Running a Hobby.

Christmas light training class in session at Christmas Lights HQ in Burlington, Kentucky

If you are putting Christmas lights on rooflines for money, this page is for you. If you are thinking about starting one, even more so.

Most installers learn the trade by accident. They watch a YouTube video. They borrow a ladder. They quote $200 for a job that should bid at $1,200. They lose the season replacing cheap bulbs and chasing callbacks. The contractors making real money in this space are not running it like a hobby. They have systems. They quote fast. They install clean. They built those systems through Christmas light training that actually works on real rooflines.

Two ways to get the Christmas light training you need. Pick the one that fits your situation.

Why Christmas Light Training Pays for Itself

The contractors who scale to $250K, $500K, even $1M a year in Christmas lights are not smarter or luckier. They went through real Christmas light training. They learned the bidding process. The right equipment. The customer experience that gets 5-star reviews instead of refund requests.

That is what training fixes.

What Most Installers Lose Without Christmas Light Training

  • Quoting blind. Without a pricing system, most new installers undercharge by 40-60%. A $1,500 job goes out the door at $600. The math does not work and you are out of business in two seasons.
  • Wrong equipment for the job. Box-store lights die fast. Cheap clips break. The wrong wire melts under load. You spend the season replacing instead of installing.
  • Slow installs. A trained 2-person crew runs a 200-foot roofline in 45 minutes. An untrained crew takes 3 hours and still leaves it crooked.
  • Callbacks that kill margin. Every callback is a lost half-day. Trained installers cut callback rates from 30% down to under 5%.
  • No system for selling. Without a quoting and closing process, your close rate sits at 10-15%. Trained installers run 25-40% because the conversation is structured.
  • Burnout. No process means everything is reactive. The season ends and you swear you will not do it again.

The math is simple. One season without Christmas light training costs more than the training pays for.

What You Learn in Christmas Light Training (In-Person and Online)

Both training options cover the same core playbook. The difference is hands-on practice in person versus self-paced learning online.

Christmas Light Bidding and Pricing

The exact pricing structure for residential, commercial, and HOA work. How to measure a property in 5 minutes. How to write a quote that closes. The mental math that lets you bid at the table without going home to calculate. Pricing for storage, takedown, repair calls, and add-ons that compound your average ticket.

The Christmas Light Sales Process

The method for walking the property with the homeowner. Why the conversation never starts with lights. How to talk about their kids, their family, what they want for Christmas. How to build the relationship before you build the quote. Why you sell at the truck table, not standing in the driveway. The exact closing conversation that gets a yes the first visit.

Christmas Light Equipment Selection

What works and what does not. Why pros run Minleon V2 and Tuff Bulbs over cheap brands. The clip systems that survive a Kentucky ice storm. The wire spacing that prevents voltage drop on long runs. The plugs and timers that hold up. The tools that save you 30 minutes per roofline. Browse the gear we recommend at Pro Light Kits.

Christmas Light Install Technique

Roofline patterns that look professional from the street. How to wrap trees, columns, and bushes the right way. Hanging methods that come off clean in January with zero shingle damage. Voltage drop math so your strings do not dim. The order of operations on a typical job that saves 2 hours.

Christmas Light Crew Management

How to hire crews that show up. Pay structures that scale. Training your installer to install the way you do. Quality control checks. How to run two trucks instead of one without doubling your stress.

Year-Round Revenue Beyond Christmas Lights

Christmas lights pay for the season, but the same crew can run permanent lighting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, or other services the rest of the year. We cover the multi-service model that turns 3-month customers into 10-year customers worth $30,000 to $100,000 in lifetime value.

Jason Geiman teaching Christmas light training to contractors at the Burlington, KY headquarters

Christmas light training is run by Jason Geiman. Retired career firefighter. 19-year Captain of Boone County Water Rescue. ASE, EVT, EMT, Hazmat, OSHA 30, and Public Safety Diver certified.

In 2012, Jason started a pressure washing company with $2,000 and no business background. In 2014, he added Christmas light installations to fill the winter revenue gap. By 2017, the combined business was doing over $1 million in annual revenue with 4 vehicle crews running daily routes. He sold the business in 2018.

Since then, he has coached over 3,000 contractors through the same Christmas light training playbook. Many are running $250K to $1M a year businesses now using the systems they learned.

Jason speaks at the HUGE Convention and the PWMCA Conference. He runs the 43,000-member Christmas Site Install Training community on Facebook. The systems he teaches in Christmas light training are the same ones he ran on his own crews. Read his full story.

Why Train for Christmas Light Installation Now

The contractors who book the most jobs in November are the ones who locked in their pricing system in spring. The ones who lock in their crew systems in summer. The ones who pre-sell repeat customers by Labor Day.

If you wait until October to figure out how you are going to run your season, you have already lost. The contractors who run organized seasons started planning the year before.

That is why both the in-person and online Christmas light training run year-round. So you can build the systems before the calls start coming in.

Christmas Light Training FAQ

What is the difference between in-person and online Christmas light training?

The in-person Christmas light training is two-and-a-half days hands-on in Burlington, Kentucky with Jason and a small group of contractors. You practice installs on real rooflines and run sales scenarios live. The online Christmas light training course covers the same playbook in self-paced video modules you can watch anytime, anywhere. Same systems, different format.

Should I do in-person or online Christmas light training?

If you can travel to Burlington, the in-person Christmas light training is the most effective format. The hands-on practice and the network you build are hard to replicate online. If travel is not an option, or you want to start learning right now, the online Christmas light training gets you the systems immediately. Some contractors do both.

Is Christmas light training for beginners or experienced installers?

Both. The bidding section helps an experienced installer double their close rate. The install section gets a beginner from scratch to ready-for-jobs. Most attendees fall somewhere in between.

How much does Christmas light training cost?

Current pricing is on the registration pages below. Most contractors recover the cost on their first one or two jobs of the next season.

Where do I stay if I travel to Burlington for the in-person Christmas light training?

Most attendees stay in Florence, Kentucky or near the Cincinnati airport (CVG, which is also in Kentucky). Both are 10 to 20 minutes from our Burlington headquarters at 3510 Green Road. Meals during training hours are covered.

Do I need my own truck or equipment to attend the in-person Christmas light training?

No. Equipment is provided for the hands-on portion. You learn what to buy, and we offer contractor wholesale pricing on every product taught at the training. Browse the Pro Light Kits.

What if I am only doing Christmas light installations part-time?

Same training applies. Jason started as a side hustle. By year three he was running 4 trucks. The systems work whether you do 5 jobs a year or 500.

Can my crew train with me?

Yes. Group rates are available for the in-person Christmas light training. The online Christmas light training has team licenses too. Training the whole team together is more effective than just the owner.

What kind of contractor benefits most from Christmas light training?

Christmas light installers. Pressure washers adding holiday lighting as a winter service. Landscapers and lawn care companies looking to extend their season. Roofers and gutter installers who want a second product to upsell. If you have customers and a truck, you can run lights.
