5" Ground Stake for C7 & C9 Christmas Lights

A heavy-duty 5" ground stake built for contractors installing landscape and pathway lighting on commercial and residential properties. Drive the stake into soil, mulch, or sod, snap in your C7 or C9 socket, and the bulb sits upright where the design calls for it. Lets you outline asphalt driveways, mulch beds, sidewalks, and walkways without damaging the socket wire the way many ground-level mounting methods do.

Comes in case of 100

Built for the Job

5" stake length. Drives deep enough into soil, mulch, or sod for a stable hold across the season without sinking so deep that the socket clip ends up at ground level. The stake holds the bulb up where it can be seen.

Fits C7 and C9 sockets. Accepts both standard C7 (E12 base) and C9 (E17 base) socket wire — one stake design covers both bulb sizes on residential and commercial jobs. Compatible with SPT-1 and SPT-2 stringer lines.

Bulb-up orientation. Each stake holds the bulb pointing straight up — the correct orientation for ground-level pathway and outline lighting, where you want the light cast upward and outward rather than buried in the mulch.

Solves the "hard-to-clip socket" problem. Sockets that traditionally won't take a clip cleanly — the ones contractors fight with on every job — mount easily to the ground stake. No more wrestling with hardware that doesn't fit the application.

Protects socket wire integrity. Many ground-level mounting methods pinch, twist, or stress the socket wire over a season of weather and wind, which leads to bulb failures and shorts at the connection point. This stake holds the socket without compressing the wire — your stringers come out of the ground in the same condition they went in.

UV-stabilized heavy-duty plastic. Built to survive sun, rain, freeze-thaw cycles, and the abuse of being driven into hard ground season after season.

Designed for Speed

Push-in installation. No drilling, no anchoring, no concrete. Push the stake into soil, mulch, or sod by hand or with a soft mallet for harder ground. Crews move quickly along long pathway runs and commercial outlines.

Pulls out clean at takedown. End of season, pull the stake out of the ground. No residue, no buried hardware, no cleanup work for the landscaping crew next spring.

No socket damage. Because the stake supports the socket from below rather than clamping around the wire, your stringer comes off the stake at takedown without the stress damage that other clip types build up over a season.

Where the Ground Stake Wins Jobs

Ground stakes open up install opportunities that traditional gutter and shingle clips can't touch:

  • Commercial property outlines — pathway lighting along walkways, plaza edges, parking medians, and entry drives
  • Asphalt driveways — outline lighting along the driveway edge where there's no roof or fascia to clip to
  • Mulch beds and planting bed borders — landscape lighting that defines the bed edge for a clean outdoor display
  • Residential walkways — front-yard pathway lighting from sidewalk to front door
  • Lawn edges and grass borders — temporary outline lighting that comes out clean at takedown
  • Pool deck and patio edges — perimeter lighting for outdoor entertainment spaces

The ground stake also pairs naturally with rooftop installs — a full property package where the gutter line gets clips on top and the driveway or walkway gets ground stakes at the bottom.

Frequently Asked Questions

What bulb sizes does the ground stake fit?

Both C7 (E12 base) and C9 (E17 base) bulbs on standard SPT-1 and SPT-2 socket wire. One stake design accepts both sizes, so you don't need separate SKUs for C7 and C9 ground installs.

How long is the stake?

5 inches. Deep enough to anchor securely in soil, mulch, or sod while keeping the bulb visible above ground level where the display reads from a distance.

What surfaces does the ground stake work on?

Anywhere a 5" stake can be driven into the ground — soil, mulch, sod, planting beds, and most lawn types. Used along asphalt driveways, sidewalks, walkways, and pathways where you stake the ground edge alongside the hard surface rather than mounting to the asphalt itself. Not designed for concrete, stone, or hard-pack gravel.

Will the ground stake damage my socket wire?

No — that's one of the main reasons it exists. Many ground-level mounting methods pinch or twist the socket wire over a season, which leads to bulb failures and shorts at the connection point. This ground stake holds the socket without compressing the wire, so your stringers come out of the ground in the same condition they went in.

Can the ground stake be used for commercial landscaping?

Yes. The ground stake is built for both commercial and residential applications. Common commercial uses include pathway lighting along walkways and plazas, parking median outlines, entry drive accents, and seasonal display borders. The 5" length and durable construction handle the volume and longevity demands of commercial properties.

How do I install the ground stake?

Push the stake into the ground by hand for soft soil or mulch, or tap lightly with a soft mallet for harder ground. Mount the bulb-and-socket into the clip at the top of the stake. The bulb sits upright pointing straight up, ready for the season. At takedown, pull the stake straight up out of the ground — no residue, no buried hardware.

What is the ground stake made of?

UV-stabilized heavy-duty plastic engineered to survive multiple seasons of outdoor exposure, freeze-thaw cycles, and the mechanical stress of repeat install and takedown.

Can I order in case quantities?

Yes. Available in bags for smaller jobs and cases for full-season trailer stocking. Contractor pricing applies on qualifying volumes — contact us for a quote on larger builds.
