The 4-sentence answer

The 50L 6″ Spacing Mini Lights — STROBE is a 50-bulb LED mini-light string with 6-inch socket spacing and built-in STROBE effect. The strobe effect is hardware-driven (no separate controller needed) — the string flashes in a synchronized rhythm. Total lit length: 25 ft per string. Spec to know: strobe strings count as their own visual layer — mix with non-strobe strings on the same tree/bush for the "static + strobe" combo that residential customers ask for. Best for: bush wraps, mantel garlands, tree branches accent layers.

Who this string is built for

Bush wrap and foundation-shrub wraps — the volume install

4-inch spacing reads as a dense glow on a typical 3–4 ft round residential shrub. The 70-LED string covers a typical foundation bush in one pass without splicing. Wrap upward from the base, plug end out, end-to-end the next string at the top — one continuous run across multiple bushes.

Tree-branch wraps + Christmas-tree-cone display props

The high LED density at 6″ spacing reads as a continuous glow on tree branches at viewing distance — the eye doesn’t separate individual bulbs. Use for trunk + main-branch wraps on decorative landscape trees, and for Christmas-tree-cone props where the wide-angle lens fills the surface evenly.

Wreath + garland integration where mini lights disappear into foliage

The 5mm bulb size and wide-angle lens disappear visually into garland and wreath foliage, leaving just the glow. The 6″ spacing fills a 9-ft garland or 48-inch wreath cleanly without dark gaps. End-to-end connectable means one supply cord runs the porch railing, the door wreath, and the entry-table garland on one circuit.

What this string works with

Power source
Any 120V AC GFCI outlet via outdoor-rated extension cord. End-to-end chain up to the manufacturer’s in-line fuse rating (typically 3-5 strings per circuit). Don’t exceed the chain limit — trips GFCI and shortens bulb life on strings closest to the plug.
Animation controllers
The Standard variant is steady-on. Twinkle and Strobe variants are animation modes baked into the string’s controller chip — no external controller required. For multi-string synchronization across a property, use any 120V outdoor timer rated for LED loads.
Timers
Any 120V outdoor timer rated for LED loads. Mini lights are non-dimmable, so TRIAC-rated dimmers aren't required. Photoelectric (dusk-to-dawn) timers are the residential standard.
Indoor / outdoor
UL Listed for outdoor seasonal use. Indoor use is also fine — many contractors run mini lights indoors on garland and accent props.
Will NOT work with
C9 or C7 sockets — mini lights are pre-built strings, NOT socket-wire compatible. Pre-2005 incandescent dimmer switches.

How to install

  1. Measure the bush + estimate string count. Walk the property. A typical 3–4 ft round residential shrub needs one 50L 4″ string. A 5–6 ft round bush needs two strings overlapped. For a hedge run, measure linear feet and divide by ~24 ft (the string length) to estimate count. Order 10% spares for case-quantity jobs.
  2. Start at the base, plug-end out. Hold the string by the plug end (this is the lead supply end). Start at the base of the bush, wrap upward and around in a spiral pattern. Don’t wrap the trunk — wrap the foliage surface. For a 4 ft round shrub at typical density, ~2.5 spiral passes cover the bush.
  3. Connect strings end-to-end for full coverage + walk-test at dusk. The female plug at the far end of string 1 plugs into the male plug of string 2 (and so on). Up to 3-5 strings per chain depending on the in-line fuse rating — check the package label. Walk back 30–40 ft from the property at dusk to confirm uniform coverage. Photo for the customer.

Certifications and compliance

  • UL Listed — Tested to UL safety standards for outdoor seasonal lighting. Insurance carriers verify on denied-claim reviews.
  • Concave / coaxial lens design — The lens shape throws light at a wide angle, which is why 5mm wraps look brighter than the same wattage in traditional narrow-angle T5 bulbs.
  • 5+ season reuse rating — LEDs rated for 15,000+ hours of continuous operation. At 12 hours per night across a 60-day season (~720 hrs/year), strings deliver 5–7 seasons of useful light before replacement.
  • Outdoor seasonal use — Survives direct rain, sleet, snow contact through a typical seasonal install cycle. Remove for off-season storage to extend life.

Warranty

Multi-season reuse warranty on 50L 4″ Mini LED strings from Christmas Lights HQ. Covers premature failure (entire string out within season one), broken plugs, and bulb failures clustered enough to compromise the string visual.

Not covered: animal chew damage, lawn equipment damage, exceeding the end-to-end chain limit, water pooling at plug connections (use weatherproof connectors / drip loops on outdoor chains).

Questions contractors actually ask

Does the strobe effect synchronize across multiple chained strings?

Each string flashes independently — not synchronized across chained strings. If you need synchronized flashing across a multi-string run, step up to programmable RGB controllers like the King Permanent Lighting system. For most residential and commercial installs, the per-string flash pattern reads as randomized sparkle — the desired "snowfall" visual.

Can I dim the strobe strings?

No — mini-light strobe strings are non-dimmable. Plug into a 120V outdoor timer for on/off scheduling. TRIAC dimmers will flicker the strobe circuit unpredictably.

How many strobe strings can I chain end-to-end?

Check the bag-label max-in-series count — typically 3-4 strings for 50L sets at 6″ spacing. The hardware strobe circuit adds slight load, so cap one string under the bag spec. Exceeding the max blows the in-line fuse at the supply plug.

Can I mix strobe and static (non-strobe) strings on the same tree?

Yes — that's the recommended residential install pattern. Wrap the tree base with static strings (volume layer), then add 1-2 strobe strings as the accent layer at the top or in feature branches. The contrast between static and strobe reads as professional vs DIY.
