The C9 Socket Seal is a rubber O-ring that slides over a C9 bulb base before it screws into a green E17/C9 socket, sealing out moisture where the bulb meets the wire.

How Installers Use It

Most bulb failures and corroded sockets trace back to water sitting where the bulb meets the socket, especially on rooflines that catch rain or snowmelt runoff. Sliding one of these over the bulb base before it goes in the socket is a cheap step that cuts down on callbacks from corrosion and flickering strings later in the season. Add it to the pre-bulb process at the shop — it takes seconds per bulb and it's a lot faster than doing it on a ladder mid-season.
