This is a 1000-ft spool of C9 socket wire on SPT-2 jacket (0.045″ thick), with mixed 12″ and 15″ socket spacing options. SPT-2 is the outdoor cold-climate spec — thicker jacket survives freeze-thaw cycles and direct UV exposure better than SPT-1. Cut to length, slide on male + female plugs, twist in C9 LED bulbs. The 12″ spacing is residential roofline volume; 15″ is the spec for commercial / longer-run installs where a wider visual gap reads better at viewing distance.
Every value below is pulled from the printed spool label and the bulk-wire cluster page. No marketing inflation.
| Wire jacket | SPT-2 (0.045″ thick) |
|---|---|
| Conductor | 18 AWG copper |
| Spool length | 1,000 ft |
| Socket spacing options | 12″ or 15″ |
| Socket base | E17 (C9) |
| Voltage rating | 120V AC line voltage |
| UV rating | Rated for direct outdoor sun + freeze-thaw |
| Temperature rating | Cold-climate (-40°F to 105°F) |
| Certification | UL Listed (insulation rating) |
One 1,000 ft spool supports 4–8 medium residential properties depending on roofline length and bulb count. Cut to length on-site, slide on an SPT-1 male plug at the supply end, cap the other end with a knockout female plug. Cost-per-foot beats pre-built stringers once you’re past ~3 properties per season — the inventory math wins.
15″ spacing is the residential roofline default. Pairs with Tuff Bulbs C9 or Minleon V2 C9 + Wedge Tuff Clip on the shingle edge. A 60 ft front facade needs ~48 bulbs at 15″ spacing; a typical home runs 200–400 bulbs total. The 15″ spacing reads clean from the street without crossing into “commercial dense.”
SPT-1 jacket handles residential and sheltered commercial. For exposed cold-climate outdoor (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, mountain) where the wire sees direct sub-zero conditions all season, step up to SPT-2 (0.045″ jacket). Both jackets carry the same 18 AWG copper inside — the only mechanical difference is the jacket thickness.
| Spec | C9 SPT-2 (this spool) | C9 SPT-1 |
|---|---|---|
| Jacket thickness | 0.045″ | 0.030″ |
| Conductor | 18 AWG copper | 18 AWG copper |
| Cold-climate use | Yes (rated) | Indoor / sheltered only |
| UV resistance | High (outdoor rated) | Moderate |
| Cost per foot | Higher | Lower |
| Best for | Outdoor cold-climate roofline + perimeter | Indoor / covered / sheltered runs |

Multi-season reuse warranty on C9 SPT-1 1,000 ft Socket Wire Spools from Christmas Lights HQ. Covers jacket cracking, socket failure, or conductor break under normal install conditions.
Not covered: wire damaged by lawn equipment, animal chew through, cuts from the installer at the wrong measure, runs left exposed to direct UV year-round (use SPT-2 or remove between seasons), exceeding the 7-amp continuous load.

12″ spacing puts a C9 bulb every foot — the residential roofline standard. 15″ spacing reads slightly more spread-out from the street — better for commercial / large-property installs. Pick spacing based on viewing distance: closer = use 12″, farther = use 15″.
At 12″ spacing: 1,000 bulbs (one per foot). At 15″ spacing: ~800 bulbs (one per 15 inches = 0.8 per foot). The spool count matches the spacing.
SPT-2 (0.045″) is the outdoor cold-climate spec. SPT-2 (0.045″) is the indoor / sheltered spec. If your run is exposed to direct rain, snow, or cold below 32°F, use SPT-2. SPT-1 in those conditions cracks the jacket within 1-2 seasons.
No — never cross-match plugs to the wrong wire jacket. SPT-2 wire requires SPT-2 plugs. Cross-matching damages the contact teeth and causes intermittent connections.
